ITF-14 (Interleaved 2 of 5) (ITF-14)
Heavyweight linear barcode engineered specifically for high-tolerance printing directly onto corrugated cardboard shipping cartons.
Governing Specification: ISO/IEC 16226 / GS1 Section 5.3
Data Format & Required Fields
Encodes 14 numeric digits with thick protective bearer bars that equalize printing press plate pressure and prevent partial scans.
Allowed Character SetExactly 13 or 14 numeric digits.
Payload Length Rule Exactly 14 characters
Required GS1 Structure Encodes standardized GS1 Application Identifiers (AIs). Unit-level and master packaging require primary identification (e.g. GTIN-14 or SSCC-18) combined with variable batch and serialization attributes for supply chain verification.
Check Digit / Checksum Rule Requires a verified modulo-10 check digit to prevent scanner misreads and data transposition errors. (Vision Scan automatically computes and verifies the check digit).
